The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has opted to address a letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding India’s decision not to take part in the ICC Champions Trophy.
Sources indicate that PCB officials, following legal consultations guided by the federal government, are prepared to move forward. The government has provided policy guidelines for dealing with India, which the PCB will use to seek clarification from the ICC regarding India’s decision.
The ICC previously informed the PCB via email that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had verbally communicated its refusal to participate.
Government sources stress that a Pakistan-India clash cannot occur without Pakistan, as both nations are equally significant to the match’s context.
Government officials have directed the PCB to engage with other cricket boards on this issue, underscoring Pakistan’s history of positive conduct. They contend that India lacks both moral and legal grounds to refuse to play against Pakistan.
