Haris Rauf takes 5 wickets as Australia dismisses Pakistan for 163 in 2nd ODI

Fast bowler Haris Rauf took a brilliant five-wicket haul and led the Pakistan pace attack as they bowled out Australia for just 163 runs in 35 overs during the second ODI at Adelaide Oval.

The Rawalpindi-born pacer, who had claimed three wickets in Pakistan’s narrow defeat in the 1st ODI, delivered another outstanding performance, dismantling Australia’s middle order after captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and opted to field first.

Rauf’s success was set up by Shaheen Shah Afridi, who dismissed both Australian openers, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matthew Short, in his initial spell with the new ball.

Rauf ended with five wickets, Afridi claimed three, while Usama Mir and Mohammad Hasnain each took one wicket.

This marked only the second five-wicket haul of Rauf’s ODI career.

For Australia, Steven Smith was the top scorer with 35. Several Australian batters reached double figures but were unable to build significant innings.

Pakistan lost the opening ODI on Monday in a close, low-scoring match and now trail the three-match series 1-0.

Pakistan’s last ODI victory in Australia was in January 2017, when then-captain Mohammad Hafeez led the team to a rare win.

Rizwan Matches World Record with 6 Catches, Misses 7th

Captain Mohammad Rizwan had an eventful day behind the stumps, equalling the world record by taking six catches in an ODI innings. He narrowly missed a seventh when he dropped a high catch offered by Adam Zampa off Naseem Shah’s bowling in the 34th over.

Rizwan now shares this record with eight other players, including fellow Pakistani Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Legendary Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist holds the record for the most instances of taking six catches in an ODI innings, having achieved this feat four times.
