US state department refutes claims of role in Imran Khan’s ouster

The US State Department has reiterated its denial of any involvement in the ousting of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

During a press conference on Thursday, spokesperson Matthew Miller characterized the allegations as “baseless.” He stressed that all legal matters concerning Khan are strictly under the jurisdiction of Pakistani courts, and that the political affairs of Pakistan are a matter for its citizens to resolve.

Miller also addressed comments made by PTI leader Sardar Latif Khosa, who suggested that Khan’s potential release could be influenced by the upcoming US presidential elections, particularly if Trump were to win. Miller emphasized that the US remains uninvolved in Pakistan’s internal political landscape.

Furthermore, when asked about Canada’s recent allegations against Indian Minister Amit Shah, Miller described the situation as “concerning” and affirmed that the US will maintain close consultations with Canada regarding this issue.
