Amid rumors of a possible new constitutional amendment—rumors that the federal government has denied—the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has confirmed that it is in talks with government representatives regarding the 27th Amendment to the Constitution.
In an interview with Geo News on Tuesday, MQM-P’s senior deputy convener Farooq Sattar stated, “We addressed this with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during our meeting, and he assured us that the local bodies clause would be included in the upcoming constitutional amendment.”
