China-Pakistan partnership aims to revitalize Pakistan’s textile sector

China’s plan to set up textile parks in Pakistan represents a major step forward in Pakistan’s ambition to become a global textile hub. By improving production capacity, ensuring higher quality standards, and emphasizing value-added products, Pakistan is well-positioned to benefit significantly from this partnership.

Dr. Liaquat Ali Shah, Executive Director of the CPEC Centre of Excellence, shared these insights with WealthPK, noting that this collaboration comes at a pivotal time as Pakistan seeks to revive its economy amid various challenges.

He highlighted that this initiative is intended to deepen economic ties between the two countries, supporting the growth of key sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and industry.

Dr. Shah noted that the textile industry, which is a vital part of Pakistan’s economy, has faced persistent challenges such as outdated technology, elevated production costs, and restricted access to international markets.

China, with its advanced textile manufacturing technology, can help bridge this gap. Through this collaboration, Pakistani manufacturers will gain access to modern machinery, materials, and practices that can significantly lower production costs. Enhanced trade agreements promoting sustainable textiles could also boost Pakistan’s competitiveness in the global market.
