Voting has commenced for the SC Bar Association elections.

Polling for the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP) elections began on Monday.

Seventeen candidates are vying for five important positions within the SCBAP. Voting started at 8:00 a.m. and will continue until 5:00 p.m., with an expected voter turnout of 4,021, the majority of whom are from Lahore, contributing 1,414 voters.

In the race for Bar President, Mian Muhammad Rauf Atta from the independent group is competing against Munir Ahmed Khan Kakar from the professional group. For the position of Secretary, both Salman Mansoor and Malik Zahid Aslam are in contention.

In the Punjab chapter, Rana Bakhtiar and Rana Ghulam Sarwar are contesting for the Vice President role. Muhammad Aurangzeb is facing off against Zubair Hussain for the position of Additional Secretary, while Aurangzeb Mir and Chaudhry Tanveer are competing for the Finance Secretary post.

These elections are crucial, as the views of the SCBAP executive body often influence the decisions of Supreme Court judges. A tightly contested race is expected between the candidates from the independent and professional groups.
