Islamabad Police ‘Detain’ Imaan Mazari and her husband

Human rights activist and lawyer Imaan Mazari, the daughter of former lawmaker Shireen Mazari, and her husband were apprehended in the federal capital. The Aabpara police arrested them after an incident involving security personnel at a checkpoint in Islamabad a few days earlier.

After the arrest, Mazari was transferred to the Women’s Police Station.

A video of the incident captured Mazari and her husband, Abdul Hadi, in a confrontation with security officials as they attempted to enter a restricted area. The police had closed off a road to ensure the safety of the England cricket team, which was playing a Test match against Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

In the footage, Mazari and Hadi can be seen attempting to remove the barriers blocking the road, despite police orders. They later engaged in a scuffle with the officers who were preventing them from using the road.
