IMC Showcases Toyota Corolla cross at Pakistan Auto Show 2024

Indus Motor Company (IMC) is proud to serve as the Diamond Sponsor for the 2024 Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS), which takes place in Lahore from October 25th to 27th.

A major attraction at IMC’s booth this year is an exploded view of their Corolla Cross, the first-ever Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) manufactured in Pakistan with the highest local content to date. This showcase underscores IMC’s commitment to local innovation and sustainability, with the display attended by IMC’s Senior Director of Manufacturing, Mr. Makoto Kubota, and Director of Manufacturing, Mr. Wali Muhammad Khan.

With a continued focus on the “Make in Pakistan” initiative, IMC is dedicated to driving local manufacturing forward, investing significantly in localization, and creating jobs while fostering industrial growth. IMC has steadily increased its investments in the country to produce high-quality vehicles domestically, supporting the growth of the local auto industry.

To further support these efforts, IMC calls on the government to implement sustainable policies that support long-term growth in the auto sector. Policies that prioritize localization and manufacturing will help Pakistan strengthen its automotive industry. IMC highlights the significance of implementing long-term policies for Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) and Battery-powered Hybrid Electric Vehicles (BHEVs), as detailed in AIDEP 2021-26. Consistent, supportive frameworks will allow Pakistan to stay at the forefront of automotive technology.

Expanding its reach beyond Pakistan, IMC recently began exporting vehicles to Oceanian countries, raw materials to Egypt, and skilled human resources to Japan. These milestones reflect IMC’s adherence to global quality standards while maintaining high levels of localization for its vehicles, including the Corolla Cross.

The local auto industry also voices concern over the impact of used car imports, urging the government to establish policies that curb excessive and illegal imports. Limiting used car imports can protect local production, sustain job creation, and support the national economy. Prioritizing locally manufactured vehicles will drive growth in Pakistan’s auto industry and stimulate economic development.

The Pakistan Auto Parts Show (PAPS) is Pakistan’s leading automotive event, bringing together original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), policymakers, government representatives, and the public. PAPS 2024 provides a platform for participants to showcase their latest vehicles and parts, engage with policymakers, and introduce innovative technologies and products to the market.
