Early Saturday, Israel announced that its military was carrying out “precise strikes” on “military targets” in Iran, as explosions were reported in Tehran.
“At this moment, the Israel Defense Forces are conducting precise strikes on military targets within Iran,” stated Israeli army spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari.
According to Israeli army radio, dozens of Israeli aircraft are targeting locations in Tehran, Mashhad, and a power station in Karaj.
Meanwhile, Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency reported explosions in Tehran, while Syria’s state news agency Sana also reported explosions in Damascus.
