The rising electricity prices are not just affecting people’s everyday lives; they are also disrupting business operations throughout Pakistan. In light of this situation, many are turning to solar panels manufactured in China, which have emerged as a much-needed solution amid the inflation crisis.
Dr. Muhammad Irfan has recently installed Chinese solar panels on his rooftop to mitigate the burden of escalating electricity costs. In an interview with WealthPK, he stated, “The high electricity bills each month had become unbearable. After consulting experts and researching the market, I opted for Chinese solar panels due to their affordability and reliability. Now, we enjoy a continuous power supply.”
He stressed that without alternative energy options, it’s impossible for individuals to escape the pressure of soaring utility bills. Although the Punjab government introduced a short-term subsidy for solar panels lasting just two months, Dr. Irfan remarked, “That was merely a small help.”
He also addressed how rising costs are impacting healthcare decisions. “As a doctor, I see that patients are postponing crucial medical appointments to reduce their electricity costs,” he stated. He mentioned a friend in the textile export sector who recently transitioned to solar energy at his facility. This switch has considerably enhanced his operations by providing a reliable power source and minimizing costly downtimes.
Dr. Khan, a university professor, reiterated this sentiment, noting the increasing popularity of Chinese-made solar panels. “While traders import panels from various countries, the Chinese options are much more economical, making solar energy accessible to more homes and businesses.”
With traditional energy prices continuing to climb, individuals are actively seeking more cost-effective solutions.“This shift to solar energy is helping both companies and families tackle their energy challenges,” Dr. Khan noted. He pointed out that Pakistan has grappled with energy issues for many years, with successive governments failing to implement sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels.
Emphasizing the economic advantages, Dr. Khan explained that lower electricity costs would decrease production expenses, ensure a consistent supply, and allow entrepreneurs to concentrate on growth. He urged policymakers to focus on alternative energy solutions to foster industrial expansion, stressing the necessity for increased exports and job opportunities for young talent, who often feel compelled to seek work abroad.
“We should recognize Chinese companies for providing affordable solutions to our energy problems and creating job opportunities in Pakistan,” he concluded, while also underscoring the solar panel industry’s potential to generate employment in installation, maintenance, and related services, highlighting its positive influence on the local economy.
