Elon Musk rallies for Trump, sending $44 million to a supporting super PAC.

Elon Musk has intensified his political contributions by investing approximately $44 million into a super PAC supporting Donald Trump, aiming for favorable results in the upcoming November 5 election. Recent disclosures to the Federal Election Commission indicate that Musk’s America PAC has donated around $75 million from July to September alone. This PAC is dedicated to mobilizing voters in key battleground states that could significantly influence the election’s outcome.

In addition to Musk’s financial backing, America PAC has reported spending over $47 million in the first half of October to support voter outreach efforts. The Trump campaign heavily depends on such external groups for voter mobilization, making Musk’s super PAC critical in what is expected to be a highly competitive race against Vice President Kamala Harris.

In the meantime, Trump’s campaign has invested more than $88 million on advertisements in the first half of October and has $36 million remaining for the final campaign stretch, following a $16 million fundraising effort during that time. Conversely, Harris’ campaign has outpaced Trump’s, reporting over $130 million spent on ads and raising $97 million during the same period, with $119 million available in the bank as of mid-October.

Musk’s contributions place him among notable Republican mega-donors, including banking heir Timothy Mellon and casino mogul Miriam Adelson. America PAC has also initiated daily $1 million giveaways to randomly selected voters who sign its online petition, designed to encourage support for Trump in crucial states. However, the Justice Department has cautioned that these giveaways might infringe federal election laws, creating a legal gray area around voter incentivization.
