Islamabad court seeks to declare KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur a fugitive

Islamabad’s anti-terrorism court has initiated proceedings to officially declare Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur as an absconder in relation to a vandalism case associated with the long march. The hearing, presided over by Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, took place amidst the presence of several leaders from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. PTI’s legal representatives, including Sardar Masroof, attended the session to advocate for the defendants involved.

During the proceedings, the court accepted an application for exemption from appearance that was submitted by Faisal Javed, another prominent PTI leader. This exemption highlights the legal maneuvers being utilized by PTI members as they navigate the ongoing challenges related to the case.

The court’s decision to adjourn the hearing until November 21 reflects the complexities of the situation, as well as the need for further deliberation on the matter. Notably, the court had previously issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Ali Amin Gandapur, underscoring the seriousness of the allegations against him. His repeated absences from court proceedings have raised concerns about his commitment to face the charges laid against him.

The ongoing legal challenges faced by Gandapur and other PTI leaders come at a time of heightened scrutiny regarding their actions during the long march, which has been a focal point of political tension in Pakistan. As the legal process unfolds, it remains to be seen how these developments will impact the PTI’s political standing and the broader political landscape in the country. The case has captured public attention, with many closely monitoring the court’s actions and the responses of the involved parties.
