Punjab introduces ‘Dhee Rani’ program to assist weddings for underprivileged couples

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the ‘Dhee Rani’ program to support underprivileged couples by organizing their wedding ceremonies and alleviating their financial burdens.

Applications for the program can be submitted through the official portal at cmp.punjab.gov.pk or by calling the helpline at 1312. To ensure transparency, verification teams will visit the homes of applicants to confirm their eligibility.

Each couple will receive Rs100,000 via ATM cards, along with essential items such as furniture, crockery, and clothing. The government will also provide meals for the wedding ceremony.

In a separate statement, CM Maryam Nawaz praised the 26th constitutional amendment, highlighting its potential to ensure timely justice and strengthen the rule of law. She noted that the amendment restores the full constitutional authority of Parliament.

Additionally, she called for positive judicial reforms to fortify the judiciary and commended the recent constitutional article aimed at eliminating interest-based practices in Pakistan.
