PM advocates for a nationwide breast cancer awareness drive on International Day.

On this International Day Against Breast Cancer, we come together with the global community to highlight the critical importance of raising awareness about breast cancer and the need for early detection and timely treatment, particularly for women. Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women worldwide, with a large number of fatalities occurring in low- and middle-income countries due to inadequate healthcare facilities.

In our own country, we face significant challenges in providing widespread access to breast cancer screening and treatment. However, by focusing on early detection and prompt intervention, we can significantly improve the chances of survival. Statistics show that there is a 98% chance of permanent recovery when breast cancer is diagnosed at an early stage. This makes early detection not just important, but life-saving.

Ongoing awareness campaigns have played a crucial role in educating women about the importance of self-examinations and regular screenings. These efforts have resulted in an increase in the number of early-stage breast cancer cases being identified, which is a promising step forward. I extend my gratitude to the media for their instrumental role in spreading this message and creating a positive impact.

Today, I call on all stakeholders, especially the media, to join forces and launch a coordinated national campaign that will further raise awareness about breast cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment options.

I firmly believe that, with a united effort, we can make a significant difference in reducing breast cancer-related deaths in Pakistan and ensuring a healthier future for women across the country. Through continued education and awareness, we can inspire hope and save lives.
