Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) chief, General Hossein Salami, issued a stern warning on Thursday, vowing to strike Israel again if it launches any military action against Tehran.
At a funeral for Abbas Nilforoushan, an IRGC commander killed alongside Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut last month, Salami urged Israel to avoid making the same mistake.
If you misbehave or target any of our assets in the region or in Iran, we will hit back painfully,he said, as reported by Iranian media.
Salami described the Oct. 1 missile strike against Israel as just a small demonstration of Iran’s military power, adding, “We are well aware of the enemy’s (Israel’s) vulnerabilities.”
His warning coincides with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s visit to Egypt, where diplomatic efforts are underway to prevent any potential Israeli attacks on Iran.
