FIA forms committee to examine misinformation related to Lahore college ‘Rape’ case

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has formed a seven-member committee to look into the spread of misinformation on social media regarding an alleged rape incident at a private college in Lahore. This decision comes after a formal complaint from the college principal, which led to the establishment of the investigation team, headed by the deputy director of the FIA’s Cybercrime Wing.

The FIA has begun taking action against individuals spreading false information about the Lahore college ‘rape’ case, which has disturbed public order. Officials have pledged to use all available resources to ensure that those responsible face appropriate legal repercussions.

In a related effort, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also created a high-level committee to investigate the alleged rape of a female student at the college. This six-member committee will be chaired by the Punjab chief secretary and will include the home secretary, advocate general of Punjab, secretary of higher education, and secretary of specialized healthcare as members.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, the father of the girl at the center of the allegations has denied that any rape occurred, claiming that the protests surrounding his daughter are baseless. He explained that his daughter sustained a back injury after slipping at home, which led to her being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“We have shared our daughter’s medical reports with the police,” he stated, expressing disbelief over the protests associated with his daughter’s name. “Those who have daughters can understand this pain,” he emphasized, highlighting the emotional distress caused by the situation.
