Pakistan and Russia have initiated the joint military exercise ‘Druzbha VII’ in Pabbi.

Pakistan and Russia have officially initiated a joint military exercise named Druzhba (Friendship) VII, representing the seventh iteration of their collaborative counterterrorism drills. This exercise was announced by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday and is seen as a significant step in bolstering defense relations between the two countries.

The exercise began on October 13 at the National Counter-Terrorism Centre in Pabbi and will last for two weeks. It involves the participation of Light Commando Troops from the Pakistan Army, alongside a military contingent from Russia. According to the ISPR, the main objective of Druzhba VII is to refine the professional skills of the participating forces through joint training. This initiative also aims to fortify the longstanding military ties that have historically existed between Pakistan and Russia.

The opening ceremony was graced by the Commandant of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, who attended as the chief guest. Such high-level attendance underscores the importance of this exercise not just as a training opportunity, but also as a platform for diplomatic engagement.

The previous military drill, Druzhba VI, was held in 2021 in the Molkino Trg area of Krasnodar, Russia. This ongoing collaboration reflects Pakistan’s commitment to conducting joint military exercises with various nations, aimed at enhancing combat readiness and improving logistical operations. These exercises are crucial for identifying and resolving issues related to training and military doctrine, thereby ensuring that the armed forces of both nations are prepared to address contemporary security challenges.

Through these drills, Pakistan and Russia are not only enhancing their military capabilities but also fostering a spirit of cooperation that is essential for tackling common threats in the region. As global dynamics continue to evolve, such partnerships will play a pivotal role in shaping the security landscape of South Asia.
