Kamala Harris is ramping up her attacks on Donald Trump as concerns grow within the Democratic Party about her chances in the upcoming election. With just 21 days left, the vice president didn’t hold back on Monday, calling Trump “unstable,” “unhinged,” and driven by a desire for “unchecked power.” Speaking to a large crowd in Pennsylvania, Harris urged voters to pay attention to Trump’s words and actions, warning of the dangers he poses if re-elected.
Her comments come after a weekend where Trump’s increasingly authoritarian rhetoric raised alarm bells. Democratic running mate Tim Walz took it even further, suggesting Trump’s talk of using the military against his political enemies could border on treason.
Harris and her team have also been hitting back at Trump’s mental fitness, flipping the script on the former president, who has spent months questioning President Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities. At the same time, Harris has launched a major effort to win back Black male voters, a key Democratic group that Trump has been chipping away at, while also focusing on increasing turnout.
In Arizona, a key swing state, Harris has rolled out a new ad campaign aimed at winning over Republicans who are disillusioned with Trump but hesitant to cross party lines. She also announced plans to appear on Fox News for the first time, signaling her willingness to engage with a broader audience and set herself apart from Trump, who mostly sticks to conservative media outlets.
Harris’ push comes as both candidates battle it out in Pennsylvania, a crucial battleground state. With 19 electoral votes up for grabs, the race there is neck and neck. Harris faces a tough challenge in convincing undecided voters, energizing the Democratic base, and distancing herself from an unpopular administration. Her task is even harder with Trump refusing to debate her again, following her strong performance in their first face-off last month.
