Pakistan Railways (PR) is set to construct a 105-kilometer railway line that will connect the Thar coal mines to Port Qasim.
An official from the Ministry of Railways informed APP that the contract for the project has already been awarded, with completion expected by October 2025.
This initiative aims to enhance the country’s bulk transportation capabilities and support broader economic growth by facilitating coal transportation throughout the nation. The project is a joint venture funded by both the Sindh and federal governments.
The official emphasized that the new rail link from Islamkot to Chhor will significantly improve coal transportation across the country.
