The SCO summit is set to take place in Islamabad, prompting the city police to unveil a comprehensive security plan aimed at ensuring maximum safety for the event.
IGP Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, confirmed that security arrangements have been finalized for all venues, airports, routes, funnel areas, hotels, and accommodations for delegations, including Noor Khan Air Base. Ongoing search operations and intelligence-based initiatives are also being conducted throughout the city.
He assured that foolproof security measures are in place for all foreign leaders, delegations, and guests. Alongside the police, personnel from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, District Administration, Pakistan Army, Rangers, Frontier Corps, provincial police, intelligence agencies, traffic police, and the Special Branch are all actively involved in ensuring safety.
Over 9,000 officers and officials from Islamabad Police will be deployed to secure the SCO summit. Additionally, the IGP noted that an integrated traffic plan has been established to minimize disruptions for the public during the event.
