Vo Thi Kim Anh clinched the inaugural Olympic ticket for boxing and secured the fifth qualification for Vietnamese sports at Paris 2024 by defeating a Tunisian opponent in the women’s 54 kg event.
Facing Islem Ferchichi in the final match of the first Olympic qualifying round on Monday night in Busto Arsizio, Italy, Anh showcased her skills against her opponent, who possessed a shorter height and reach.
Despite Ferchichi’s aggressive attacks in the first round, Anh demonstrated solid defense and effective counter punches. Despite absorbing two straight punches from her opponent, the Vietnamese boxer retaliated with precise left hooks. All five judges awarded Anh 10 points, while Ferchichi received four scores of 9 and one of 8.
