The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has published a report showing a significant reduction in terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Over the past nine months, intelligence-based operations have resulted in the deaths of 209 terrorists and the arrest of 244 individuals.
The report outlines a total of 497 terrorism incidents across 27 districts in the province, involving 1,154 people from banned organizations named in FIRs. Out of these, 16 individuals have been convicted in court.
Key findings from the report include:
- Dera Ismail Khan: This district experienced 52 incidents, leading to the deaths of 39 terrorists and four arrests. Dera Ismail Khan is notable as the hometown of both the provincial Chief Minister and the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
- Khyber District: There were 55 reported terrorism incidents, resulting in 22 terrorists killed and 25 arrests.
- North Waziristan: In this area, CTD operations accounted for 54 incidents, with 27 terrorists killed and eight suspects apprehended.
- Provincial Capital (Peshawar): The capital reported 33 incidents, resulting in 66 arrests and eight terrorist fatalities.
