Kalam’s charm welcomes tourists to peaceful retreat ahead of winter

On Sunday, the stunning beauty of Kalam Valley offered tourists a serene escape as heavy rainfall marked the beginning of the winter season. Visitors enjoyed the magical combination of moonlight, the soothing sounds of birds, and blooming seasonal flowers. Kalam’s hotels and restaurants were bustling with tourists and adventure seekers soaking in the refreshing weather over the weekend.

In Upper Kalam, the scenic Oshu Valleys and the renowned Mahodand Lake turned into peaceful retreats. The mix of rain showers and bursts of sunshine enhanced the natural splendor of the region. The dramatic interplay of clouds and sunlight over the pristine landscapes left tourists in awe, providing them with a much-needed break from the hectic pace of city life.

Fayaz Khan, a tourist from Nowshera, expressed his joy to APP, saying, “The weather in Kalam is incredible after the rains. I traveled from Wapda Town, Nowshera with my family to celebrate my birthday at Mahodand and Oshu Valleys. We’ve had an amazing time surrounded by this stunning scenery, filled with fun and excitement.”

The continued allure of Kalam’s natural beauty, combined with the day’s pleasant weather, drew in more visitors seeking both adventure and relaxation. Nestled among towering deodar trees and abundant trout fish, Mahodand Lake, with its 2-kilometer length and altitude of 9,400 feet, stood out as a true gem of nature. Its bluish-white waters, swelling after the monsoon rains, became the centerpiece for leisurely boating and tranquility.

The area around the lake burst into vibrant colors with seasonal flowers and roses in full bloom, adding to the magical scenery. Khayam Khan, a visitor from Peshawar, shared his excitement with APP, saying, “I returned to Kalam Valley with my family after five years to enjoy its breathtaking beauty and the lovely weekend weather.”

“Every raindrop adds to the post-monsoon magic, enhancing the lush greenery and the lake’s emerald charm,” Khayam added, while enjoying trout fish as his children played football nearby. Surrounded by cold breezes and waterfalls from the snow-covered Oshu, the experience was filled with laughter and joy.

Adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been particularly drawn to this picturesque destination, taking advantage of the improved road access and transportation. The upgraded infrastructure and Swat Motorway have made it easier for tourists to enjoy various adventure sports in Upper Swat, further boosting the lake’s appeal.
