The Sindh government has announced the suspension of cellular services across all major cities of the province, including Karachi, on Monday in observance of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar stated that mobile phone services will be halted in major cities such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, and Khairpur as part of enhanced security measures aimed at maintaining law and order.
The home minister also noted that security forces will remain on high alert due to the current law and order situation, with aerial surveillance of mourning processions.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed that voice and data services will be suspended in the specified cities based on directives from the interior ministry.
Additionally, the provincial government has declared a holiday for all public and private schools across Sindh in commemoration of the Chehlum of Karbala martyrs.
A ban on pillion riding has also been enforced across the province, including Karachi, to prevent any potential incidents.
In Rawalpindi, a public holiday has been declared in honor of the Chehlum. The local police have outlined a security plan for seven processions from various Imambargahs, with over 4,400 security personnel deployed and 215 officers managing traffic flow.
