The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that the Ramadan crescent is expected to be visible on March 1, 2025. According to PMD, the moon will be born on February 28 at 5:45 PM, paving the way for the start of Ramadan. Based on this projection, the first day of fasting in Pakistan will likely fall on March 2, subject to the moon’s visibility.
Globally, countries like the UAE and other Gulf nations anticipate sighting the moon on February 28, with Ramadan beginning there a day earlier on March 1.
Millions of Muslims across Pakistan are preparing to observe the holy month, a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection. The PMD has further indicated that early Ramadan days will bring pleasant weather, with warm daytime hours balanced by cooler sea breezes at night. However, residents of Karachi should brace for soaring temperatures expected in the last ten days of Ramadan, beginning around March 20.
Regarding current weather patterns, the PMD has forecasted cold and dry conditions for most parts of the country over the next 24 hours. Isolated regions in Kashmir, northeast Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may experience rain, thunderstorms, and even snowfall in higher altitudes. Additionally, light fog is expected in parts of northeast Punjab during early mornings.
Looking ahead, meteorologists predict that a westerly wave could affect Pakistan’s weather later this evening, potentially altering conditions in the coming days.
Ramadan represents a time of unity and devotion for Muslims in Pakistan and beyond. With preparations well underway, communities are gearing up for this sacred month, while weather outlooks help them plan accordingly.
