Warnings Ignored Before Iranian Strikes on U.S. Military Bases

Washington (Monitoring Desk) – U.S. military commanders have been warning for years about threats to American bases in the Gulf region, but successive U.S. administrations reportedly ignored these alerts.

According to the Wall Street Journal, recommendations to relocate critical assets from these bases were disregarded, making the recent Iranian attacks extremely damaging. Last Friday, Iranian ballistic missiles and drones heavily struck Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, injuring around a dozen U.S. personnel and destroying several valuable aircraft.

The report noted that during the attack, an E-3 AWACS radar plane and multiple KC-135 refueling tankers were destroyed at the base, which is located less than 400 miles from Iran. Former U.S. Central Command chiefs, including General Frank McKenzie and General Erik Kurilla, had long been proposing changes to military strategy.

The article also mentioned that the United Arab Emirates is preparing, alongside the U.S. and its allies, to secure the Strait of Hormuz through force if necessary.
