Actors Zara Noor Abbas and Asad Siddiqui of Pakistan have spoken publicly about their struggles and triumphs as parents. They spoke about the devastating loss of their firstborn son, Aurangzeb, and how the birth of their daughter, NooreJahan, brought them new joy in a recent interview.
Abbas had already characterised Aurangzeb’s stillbirth as a life-altering event, reflecting on their loss and urging women to have open discussions about their experiences.
Similarly, Siddiqui brought attention to the mental and spiritual toll of their loss and how religion helped them recover. A lot of people have invisible issues going on behind the surface of their lives, he said, so people should be careful with their comments.
The happy parents also discussed several options for a daughter’s name. On the recommendation of Siddiqui’s father, they settled on NooreJahan after first contemplating Jahan Ara and Noor Jahan.
The 2017 marriage of Abbas and Siddiqui was filled with joy and thankfulness as they welcomed NooreJahan into their family last year.
