On Thursday, the Holy See’s secretary of state declared that the Palestinian people “must remain in its land.”
According to the ANSA news agency, Pietro Parolin denied any forced deportations during a meeting between Italy and the Holy See.
“The Palestinian people must stay in their homeland. One of the core tenets of the Holy See is that there should be no deportations,” Parolin told reporters.
“No deportations also because someone on the Italian side has underlined how this would create tension in the area,” he stated.
The contentious plan by US President Donald Trump to “take over” the Gaza Strip and forcefully relocate the Palestinian population to other nations prompted his comments.
