The US State Department has denied reports suggesting it is drafting travel ban lists targeting several nations. At a briefing, spokesperson Tammy Bruce clarified that there is no such list being implemented. Instead, she referred to a security review of visa policies initiated under a presidential executive order.
Bruce emphasized that Afghanistan, reportedly one of the countries mentioned in these claims, is not facing a visa suspension. She also assured that US remains committed to resettling Afghan allies who aided US missions during its two-decade presence in Afghanistan.
Concerns have escalated, especially for Afghans awaiting resettlement in countries like Pakistan, as US policy reviews create uncertainty. Advocacy groups worry additional delays could leave thousands in precarious conditions, with Pakistan enforcing a March 31 deadline for Afghan refugees to return.
Bruce reiterated the US’s ongoing efforts to support resettlement, despite challenges introduced by temporary freezes on refugee programs earlier this year.
