Former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stated that the winner of the upcoming election will be known on Tuesday night, claiming he has “a substantial lead.”
In a phone interview with ABC News on Sunday, Trump responded to a question about the possibility of losing by acknowledging, “I guess you could lose. I mean, that happens, right? But I think I have a pretty substantial lead. Bad things could happen, but it’s going to be interesting.”
When asked when he would address the nation regarding the election results, Trump said, “I’ll be out there at the right time.”
Regarding his campaign rallies leading up to the election, he remarked, “Nobody’s ever done what I’ve done, and they’re big rallies with tremendous enthusiasm.”
In the final days of his campaign, Trump has been actively visiting battleground states. After a tour of western states last week, he held rallies in Michigan and Wisconsin on Friday and made two stops in North Carolina on Saturday, along with a visit to Virginia, where he believes he can secure a win. Following his ABC News interview, he continued campaigning with rallies in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia on Sunday.
Citing polling firm AtlasIntel, which he claims was the “most accurate” in 2020, Trump stated that he is ahead in all seven key battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Both Trump and his opponent, Kamala Harris, have spent considerable time campaigning in these states, recognizing their importance in deciding the election.
The election is set for Tuesday, with Americans voting not only for the presidency but also for Congress and various state and local offices.
According to data from the University of Florida Election Lab, over 78 million Americans have already cast early ballots, including approximately 700,000 more Democrats than Republicans.
