Three Mayo Hospital nurses dismissed over injection-related deaths in Lahore

The Punjab Health Department has filed charges against three Mayo Hospital staff nurses under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline, and Accountability (Peeda) Act for delivering contaminated medication shots that caused 16 patients to react and two to die.

The department suspended Sonila Khalid, Saima Sehar, and Nazia Hassan and ordered them to report to the Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Department until further notice.

Following the hospital’s chest surgery ward incident, the inquiry committee’s findings prompted the action.

“You were negligent in administering powdered injections (reconstitution, dilution, route of administration) and engaged in poor dispensing practices.
