The PM wants to boost Pak-Uzbek trade to $2 billion.

The leaders of Pakistan and Uzbekistan have called for a comprehensive plan to boost bilateral trade to $2 billion, which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized.

On Thursday, the prime minister met with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, and expressed Pakistan’s desire to deepen cooperation in mining, railways, Special Economic Zones, banking, tourism, culture, and renewable energy.

During his recent visit to Tashkent, the Prime Minister thanked President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his warm welcome and sent his greetings.

He reaffirmed the visit’s achievement in forming a High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council and signing multiple agreements and MOUs in several fields.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he has ordered appropriate ministers to swiftly follow up on his Uzbek leadership talks during his trip.

Ambassador Tukhtaev expressed President Mirziyoyev’s strong desire to improve relations with Pakistan and reported that the President has accepted the Prime Minister’s invitation to visit Pakistan later this year, with dates to be decided.
