‘The Martial Artist’ set for Eidul Fitr release in Pakistan

Shaz Khan’s directorial debut, The Martial Artist, is scheduled to premiere in Pakistani cinemas on the first day of Eidul Fitr, with a global release following on April 4, 2025. The film, originally set for a January 31 release in Los Angeles, was postponed due to wildfires affecting the area.

The Martial Artist features a notable cast, including Shaz Khan, Faran Tahir, Sanam Saeed, and Babar Peerzada. The narrative centers on Ibby “The Prince” Bakran, portrayed by Khan, an MMA fighter whose career faces setbacks due to personal challenges. A family revelation prompts him to journey to Pakistan to reconnect with his estranged grandfather and confront his past.

Filmed across the United States, Pakistan, and Central America, the movie is distinguished as the first international-level English film featuring four lead Pakistani actors. To ensure accessibility for local audiences, an Urdu-dubbed version will also be available in Pakistan.

In preparation for his role, Shaz Khan trained under MMA champion Rafael Cordeiro in California. He expressed his intent to humanize fighters and shed light on the often misunderstood sport of mixed martial arts, highlighting the humility and determination inherent in its athletes.
