SRCC launches Artists Camp to support Gaza through art

In a heartfelt gesture of solidarity, the Silk Road Culture Centre (SRCC) launched a week-long artists camp titled “Art for Life— Art for Gaza” in Islamabad on April 23. The initiative, led by renowned artist and SRCC Chairman Jamal Shah, aims to channel creative expression into a message of peace and resilience for Gaza.

Running from April 30 to May 7, the camp will bring together local and international artists, writers, and performers to produce works centered on human dignity, cultural memory, and hope—intentionally avoiding political or violent themes. The event serves as a symbolic stand with Gaza through painting, poetry, music, dance, film, and installations.

According to Shah, the project is “an artist’s homage to the spirit of Gaza,” offering a space for reflection beyond protest. The final day will feature a public art festival and charity auction, with all proceeds dedicated to humanitarian relief for Gaza’s vulnerable children and communities.

The launch event drew wide support, including the Deputy Ambassador of Palestine, foreign diplomats, and members of Pakistan’s cultural and development communities. Several camp activities will also be livestreamed globally to ensure broader engagement.
