US Awami League Vice President Dr. Rabbi Alam, a close adviser of ousted Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, voiced optimism in her return despite the political situation.
According to Indian news channels, Alam called the current political scenario in Bangladesh a “attack” and urged the world community to act.
Sheikh Hasina and other politicians were housed by India, which Alam appreciated. He praised Narendra Modi for ensuring Sheikh Hasina’s safety.
Bangladesh is under siege, and the world community must act. A political revolt is acceptable, but not in Bangladesh. An revolt by terrorists… India protects several of our leaders, and we thank the government for the alignment “said.
Alam said the young people in Bangladesh had committed a mistake, but they had been exploited, and that Sheikh Hasina would return to power.
“Sheikh Hasina will return as PM. Alam stated the youthful generation made a mistake because they were deceived.
In related news, a Dhaka court seized Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi home and 124 bank accounts. Amidst political instability, Hasina was removed after weeks of student-led rallies and violence that killed over 600 people.
After Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus formed an interim administration, the situation changed.
India hosts Sheikh Hasina and other famous politicians in exile.
Alam also criticised the Bangladeshi protesters and the political leadership. “We want to ask the Bangladesh Advisor to step down and go back to where he came from,” he said.
Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs protested Sheikh Hasina and other exile leaders’ “false and fabricated” comments, accusing them of promoting instability. The administration has asked India to stop such assertions.
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) issued an arrest warrant for Sheikh Hasina and 10 others, including her former Defence Adviser and Inspector General of Police, for extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances in January.
