An awards event at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival honored Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy with the Cinema for Peace Dove Award for Women’s Empowerment. Her powerful documentary, Diane Von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge, about the fashion designer, won the award.

Obaid-Chinoy said, “Diane’s story reminds us that women can overcome any challenge and drive progress when they stay true to themselves. This honor motivates us to tell stories that encourage change and courage.”
Antonio Banderas and other notable figures were honored at the star-studded event, which also honored Sir Bob Geldof for his global humanitarian work. Cinema for Peace has promoted socially relevant films and collaborated with Angelina Jolie and Nelson Mandela.
