Cambridge International Examination (CIE) and the British Council have decided to cancel Cambridge O Level, IGCSE, and International AS & A Level exams in several areas, including Muzaffarabad and Mirpur within the regions of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), alongside Islamabad and Punjab. This decision was based on an assessment of security risks.
The organizations explained that safeguarding students and staff is their primary concern, while also aiming to support students in achieving their academic goals.
Unless there are unanticipated changes in the safety situation, exams scheduled on May 9 in other regions of Pakistan are anticipated to go ahead as scheduled. Authorities have promised to keep students and parents updated promptly if adjustments become necessary.
For students unable to sit for these exams, Cambridge has assured the implementation of established systems to ensure fair grade allocation, allowing them to continue their education trajectory. Individuals were encouraged to stay informed through the official platforms of Cambridge and the British Council for accurate updates.
Students or private candidates with questions were advised to consult their schools or the British Council’s customer support team for guidance.
