Khattak had provided Musarrat with Rs50,000, which was spent within two days on Eid clothing and a bicycle for her children. Khattak labeled these purchases as a misuse of funds, suggesting she should have guided the spending towards more practical needs.
Critics described Khattak’s comments as tone-deaf and invasive, highlighting that her public critique undermined Musarrat’s autonomy and dignity. They argued that true charity should not come with conditions or control over how the aid is utilized. One social media user remarked, “This isn’t charity; it’s a power play disguised as kindness.”
In response to the backlash, Khattak defended her stance, detailing the support she and her family had extended to Musarrat over the years. She emphasized her belief in financial responsibility and expressed a desire for her house help to secure a stable future.
