Pakistani actor Sabeena Farooq has called on car drivers to exercise patience and kindness towards motorcyclists, especially families partaking in Eid festivities. In an Instagram story posted on Monday, Farooq emphasized the importance of considerate driving during the holiday season.
She appealed to drivers of larger vehicles to exhibit grace, noting that many families on motorcycles are seizing rare opportunities to celebrate together. Farooq highlighted the unnecessary fear and frustration caused by aggressive driving behaviors, such as excessive honking, which can startle children on bikes. She urged drivers to remain patient if motorcyclists inadvertently encroach into their lanes, provided there is no immediate risk of collision.
Farooq’s message comes in the wake of several tragic road incidents in Pakistan. Recently, a man and his pregnant wife lost their lives when a water tanker collided with their motorcycle in Karachi. Additionally, on February 16, eleven people were killed, and seven others injured in two separate road accidents in Punjab province. These events underscore the urgent need for improved road safety and heightened driver awareness.
By advocating for empathy and patience on the roads, Farooq aims to foster a safer environment for all, particularly during festive periods when traffic congestion is heightened.
