Unknown assailants fatally shot Mufti Shah Mir, a prominent religious scholar in Balochistan, in Turbat town of Kech late Friday night.
According to police, the attackers targeted Mufti Shah Mir as he was leaving after performing night prayers.
“Gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on him, critically wounding him,” police stated. He was rushed to Turbat hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Mufti Shah Mir sustained multiple gunshot wounds, leading to his death. He was closely associated with JUI-F and had previously survived two assassination attempts.
The attack follows the recent killing of two JUI-F leaders in Khuzdar.
