In the beginning, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif started many public welfare activities. Underpinned by science, these inclusive development policies ensure the dignity and prosperity of all. Her leadership has stabilised a political scene plagued by unrest and turmoil, creating new governance standards.
She prioritises journalist welfare. Despite economic difficulties, she quadrupled the Journalists Support Fund and started Phase II of the Punjab Journalists Housing Foundation in Lahore to help media professionals pay for land. She also gave Punjab press clubs Rs150 million to demonstrate her support for press freedom.
Youth empowerment is another Maryam Nawaz Sharif priority. Her Honhaar Scholarship Program has awarded nearly 30,000 Rs. 15 million scholarships, with 20,000 more anticipated for the next phase. The CM Punjab Laptop Scheme gives pupils new learning tools. Safe transit for girls’ colleges, school food programs for 400,000 students everyday, and Lahore’s first Autism School are among projects. The CM Punjab E-Bikes Scheme encourages student eco-friendly transportation, and Lahore has 27 electric buses.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has supported marginalised populations with many social welfare programmes.
The Minorities Card program supports 50,000 families and will grow to 75,000. The Punjab Dhee Rani Program has helped 3,000 disadvantaged couples get married with household supplies and money. The Rs2.6 billion CM Himmat Card Program helps disabled people with finances and supportive devices.
Ramadan Nigheban, with Rs30 billion, feeds worthy families. Registration of 3.95 million families by the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry allows data-driven social program implementation.
Another groundbreaking scheme is Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar, which offers interest-free housing financing. Two dozen dwellings are finished and 9,000 are under construction. Over 14,000 beneficiaries have received Rs13.2 billion in loans. The CM also launched a three-marla plot scheme for the destitute. Maryam Ki Dastak, which provides 98 digital services to citizens, is another amazing endeavour to streamline government and improve service delivery.
Cultural events including Jashan-e-Azaadi Floats, Quaid Day, the Horse & Cattle Show, and the Pink Games have returned to Punjab. In her first year in office, she introduced the Suthra Punjab Program to address environmental and cleanliness challenges, and the Smog Mitigation Program and Green Credit Program (worth Rs. 500 million) demonstrate her commitment to environmental sustainability.
With Clinics on Wheels and field hospitals, Maryam Nawaz Sharif has transformed Punjab’s healthcare industry, treating 6.8 million patients. Free home delivery and cancer treatment advances have improved healthcare access. Creating the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital and Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha were major healthcare improvements. The Children’s Heart Surgery Program, CM Punjab Dialysis and Transplant Program, Air Ambulance Service, 37 new Rescue 1122 centres in 19 districts, and a 24/7 hospital control room for public service monitoring are other key health projects.
Punjab is becoming Pakistan’s food basket under Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Green Tractor Program and Kisaan Card support farmers, Livestock Card improves animal husbandry, Solarisation of agricultural tube wells promotes sustainability, and Shrimp farming in Muzaffargarh has a $1 billion export target. Her drive on economic development led to Punjab’s historic engagement with China and various accords. AI-driven robotic farming machinery to enhance production, environmental pollution control, a $700 million investment in Nawaz Sharif IT City in Lahore, and a $50 million technology startup investment fund are notable successes.
