Punjab unveils ‘Air Punjab’ and plans for Pakistan’s first Bullet train

Punjab’s Information Minister, Azma Bokhari, announced two significant infrastructure projects: the launch of a provincial airline named ‘Air Punjab’ and the development of Pakistan’s first bullet train connecting Lahore and Rawalpindi.

With four leased aircraft, “Air Punjab” is scheduled to launch, initially concentrating on internal routes. The provincial government aims to secure an international air license within a year to expand its reach.

The estimated bullet train ride from Lahore towards Rawalpindi will take roughly two hours and twenty minutes. We are also thinking about adding more routes across the province. Also in the works is a glass train proposal that would run from Rawalpindi to Murree.

These initiatives mark the first time a provincial government in Pakistan has undertaken such ambitious transportation projects.

In her address, Minister Bokhari also commented on regional tensions, criticizing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies in Kashmir and rejecting allegations of Pakistani involvement in recent incidents. She urged Pakistanis to stand united while the country faces threats from outside and reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to protect its independence.
