Punjab officially recognizes minority festivals

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that the provincial government will now officially celebrate all religious and cultural festivals of minority communities. This decision highlights the government’s efforts to ensure inclusivity and respect for Pakistan’s diverse cultural heritage.

Speaking on the occasion of Holi, the CM emphasized the importance of fostering harmony and equality. She revealed that funding for minority festivals has been increased to support these celebrations. She also introduced initiatives like ‘Minority Cards’ to provide financial assistance to underprivileged minority groups.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif affirmed that safeguarding minority rights remains a priority, describing such protections as a “red line.” She pledged equal access to facilities such as education, employment, and healthcare for all communities, aiming to create a Punjab where everyone feels secure and valued.

The Chief Minister’s message reflects the vision of building an inclusive society, where festivals like Holi symbolize unity, love, and acceptance for all faiths.
