Punjab implements new dress code for school teachers

The Punjab School Education Department has introduced a new dress code for teachers in government schools, aiming to promote professional and cultural values within educational institutions.

Key directives include:

  • Male Teachers: Prohibited from wearing jeans and T-shirts.
  • Female Teachers and Students: Advised against excessive makeup, high heels, and expensive jewelry. Female teachers are required to wear shalwar kameez accompanied by dupattas or hijabs.

The department has emphasized that strict action will be taken against those who fail to comply with these guidelines. Private schools have also been instructed to enforce this dress code among their staff.

This initiative mirrors a similar policy recently implemented in Sindh, reflecting a broader effort to uphold discipline and respect for cultural norms within Pakistan’s educational sector.
