Punjab government allocates 86 electric buses for Faisalabad urban transport

The Punjab government has announced the allocation of 86 electric buses to enhance Faisalabad’s urban transport system, aiming to provide residents with efficient and eco-friendly public transportation options. An initial batch of 33 buses is expected to arrive soon and will operate across six designated routes within the city.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize public transport across Punjab. In Lahore, a pilot project introduced 27 electric buses in February 2025, with plans to expand the service to 500 additional buses by August. Similarly, the Sindh government has approved the operation of 100 electric buses in Karachi to improve urban mobility.

The introduction of electric buses in Faisalabad is expected to reduce air pollution and provide a sustainable transportation alternative for the city’s residents. These efforts reflect the government’s commitment to addressing environmental concerns and enhancing public transport infrastructure across major urban centers.
