The Punjab government has launched a province-wide Eid gift distribution campaign for 40,000 special needs children studying in government institutions. The initiative, spearheaded by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, aims to ensure that these children are included in the festive celebrations and feel valued.
Special Assistant to the CM, Sania Aashiq, formally inaugurated the campaign in Lahore, visiting three special education institutions. She distributed gifts and conveyed a heartfelt message from the chief minister, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the welfare of children with disabilities. “These children deserve our utmost care and support. This initiative is a small effort to bring joy into their lives,” Aashiq said.
Maryam Nawaz has also announced that the Punjab government is working on long-term plans to improve special education and welfare facilities across the province. These initiatives include upgrading schools for children with disabilities, increasing funding for assistive learning tools, and providing better healthcare support. She stressed the importance of ensuring equal opportunities for all children, regardless of their physical or cognitive challenges.
Parents and educators have welcomed the initiative, stating that such efforts help integrate special needs children into mainstream society and create a sense of inclusivity. Many expressed hope that the government’s promise of improved infrastructure and resources would lead to lasting positive change.
The Eid gift drive is expected to continue across Punjab in the coming days, covering all major cities and rural districts.
