Islamabad (Pakistan News): Tensions escalated along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber district when Afghan Taliban forces opened unprovoked fire. Pakistani security forces responded immediately and effectively.

According to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s spokesperson for foreign media, Masharaf Zaidy, the clashes took place in the border areas of Torkham and Tirah, where Afghan forces initiated indiscriminate shelling. Security sources stated that the exchange of fire involved three different points and lasted approximately one hour. Pakistani troops remained unharmed, while a checkpost on the Afghan side was completely destroyed in the retaliatory action.

The government emphasized that Pakistan will not compromise on its border sovereignty and citizen protection, and any further provocations will be met with immediate and strong responses.
