Uniform Electricity Tariff Across Pakistan to Take Effect from January 15

Islamabad (Pakistan News): Following NEPRA’s approval, new electricity tariffs will be implemented across the country starting January 15, ensuring a uniform rate for all consumers, including K-Electric users.

According to Express News, the federal government had submitted a request to NEPRA to apply a single consumer tariff nationwide. The proposal included amendments to the existing tariff notification, which will now be revised under Section 31 of the NEPRA Act.

During the NEPRA hearing, officials from the Power Division stated that industrial consumers would benefit from a 26% reduction in electricity rates, lowering the industrial tariff from Rs 62.99 to Rs 46.31 per unit.

In addition, the cross-subsidy has been significantly reduced from Rs 225 billion to Rs 102 billion, resulting in a savings of Rs 123 billion.

This move aims to standardize electricity rates nationwide and ease the financial burden on consumers.
