Supreme Court Allows Salman Safdar to Meet Imran Khan

Islamabad (Pakistan News) – The Supreme Court has permitted Barrister Salman Safdar to meet PTI founder Imran Khan in the Toshakhana criminal case, appointing him as the court’s representative.

During the hearing, a two-member bench led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi ordered Salman Safdar to visit the jail and submit a detailed written report on Imran Khan’s condition and the facilities available to him. The Chief Justice instructed the Attorney General not to obstruct the meeting and allowed Salman Safdar to directly communicate with the court.

The court also requested a report from the jail superintendent and adjourned the hearing until February 12. The Attorney General submitted reports covering August 5 to August 18, 2023, compiled during Imran Khan’s imprisonment in Attock Jail.

At the hearing, lawyer Latif Khosa raised concerns that he was not being allowed to meet Imran Khan. The Chief Justice responded that Salman Safdar would visit today for the meeting. Barrister Salman Safdar is scheduled to meet Imran Khan at Adiala Jail at 2:00 PM and will submit the report to the Supreme Court afterward.
