Parliament Passes Daanish Schools, Human Rights, and Domestic Violence Bills

Islamabad (Pakistan News):Despite strong protests from the opposition and objections from the President, Parliament approved key bills during a joint session.

The Daanish Schools Authority Bill 2025 and the Prevention and Protection Against Domestic Violence Bill 2025 were passed. The establishment of the Daanish Schools Authority will grant it powers over curriculum approval, courses, inspection of centers of excellence, and coordination with private and public educational institutions.

During the opposition’s protest, slogans were raised and chaos ensued in front of the Speaker, yet the bills were successfully passed. The National Commission for Human Rights (Amendment) Bill 2025 was also approved. Additionally, a joint resolution on the Karachi Gul Plaza incident was passed unanimously by the government and opposition.

State Minister Talal Chaudhry announced that, for the first time, the Domestic Violence Bill will also include protections for men, ensuring safeguards for all citizens. Following the proceedings, the joint parliamentary session was adjourned indefinitely.
